GUBA Awards 2017 – a celebration of excellence within the British Ghanaian and African community will be taking place on Saturday the 3rd of June, 2017, at the luxurious Intercontinental Hotel, o2, London. The awards which takes place from 6pm will be in celebration of GUBA’s sixth year in operation and a nod to Ghana’s 60th Independence.
The GUBA Awards is a biennial event that operates on the ethos of recognition and acknowledgement, seeking to award the consistent innovation of individuals working to positively impact their communities. The overall aim of the awards is to facilitate advancement and reward excellence within the African community in the UK and Ghana.
Speaking on the upcoming awards, Mrs Dentaa Amoateng MBE (CEO of GUBA Enterprise) adds:
Since inception, the GUBA Awards has been focused on recognising the best and consistent talents and efforts within our community. This year, we have a diverse list of recipients that have demonstrated exceptional excellence within their various fields. We hope that in acknowledging these trailblazers, we can inspire a generation of even greater change makers.
This year, the categories up for the public vote were: Animator of the Year, Charity of the Year, Professional of the Year, Made in Ghana Products, Efie Ne Fie and Business Start-up of the Year Award. The winners of the respective categories will be announced on the night. Also to be awarded on the night are thirteen innovators selected under the GUBA Black Star Awards category, which celebrates a dedication to excellence and longstanding contributions to society. Live performances on the night will include sensational Ghanaian superstar – Wiyaala who will perform an energetic and unique piece with the help of the Davidson’s band. Talented singers – Shekinah singers will also introduce the audience with an array of songs. The evening will be hosted by comedian Eddie Kadi and the extraordinary Anita Erskine.
